Sorry for the delayed update everyone. It seems like i have barely been able to schedule sleep into my last few weeks. Anyways, I did go to General Coffee state park last weekend and caught one hognose and an eastern king. both good finds but not nearly what I was aiming for. The rain that swept through the area prevented us from herping too much but we were able to make the best of it by attending a birds of prey show that was indoors at the park. i took a few videos but have not yet figured out how to post them, i am working on that now. Hope that everyone is enjoying the warming weather and is getting the best out of it by getting outside.
All best,

Hello,
I am up in Michigan currently visiting family on my spring break. Although it is much to cold to go herping here, I am not without herps. I visited the Detroit zoo the other day and looked around the reptile room and got a bit of a behind the scenes tour in the amphibian house.
I got some new equipment that I hope to incorporate into the site so stay tuned for possible webisodes and a few changes.

Finally, the weather is warm enough for the snakes to move. i will go on some trips this coming week to look for some herps. I will be in General Coffee State Park and Guana State Park walking trails and flipping anything that looks promising. the last few times that I have been to Guana there were three pygmy rattlesnakes and as for General Coffee, there were 14 snakes of various types and sizes including cottonmouths, timbers, and pygmies. I am beginning to pack for my first trip (Guana) as I will be going there tomorrow with some friends to hike and catch some snakes. The General Coffee trip will be during my spring break. Y'all need to get out there as well nd feel the warm air, it is wonderful!

On Sunday me and my friend Brian C. were out snake hunting. We were out near the creek and out of the corner of my eye I saw a snake go into the water. At first I just stood there and thought if it was a copperhead, but they don't live near water. So I took off my shoes and climbed down into the creek. The water was pretty warm. Then I saw the snake try to get into a hole in the creek side. So I grabbed it by the tail and pulled it out. He was very mad. Brian was like "is it venomous" but it was a midland water snake. He bit me about 5 times until he calmed down. Then we put it into a laundry tub and filled it with water. The snake was about 1 and a half to 2 feet long. I took some pictures with my phone. By this week I should have them in the photo gallery. Currently the snake is with my other friend Brian R.

The museum got some new gators in as the old ones were becoming too big for the enclosure. They are only about 6 inches and are absolutely adorable.
Monty on the other hand, has been back and forth to the vets office, he has been refusing meals and other than what i have been force feeding him, he has not had anything since summer and has lost a considerable amount of weight. Dr.Rossi (once the president of Jax Herp) is the vet that takes care of him and i am working out a sort of internship over the summer so that I can extend my medical knowledge about reptiles. This will also count towards my venomous hours (i need 1,000 hours of training to get my hot license).
All best

hey guys, some of you may have noticed that there is a new link on the proposed ban on pythons and boas, there are some emails, a record of a chat and a response the article that started it all up right now and more will be coming soon, also, there is a new gallery up in the photos section. It is of the atlanta reptile show however, in the future, it will include other reptile shows along with it. Keep checking in, as you can see, I have been hard at work on the site and I will continue in my spare time (which is fleeting nowadays).
All best,

the Boa and python ban has spawned several articles that spew propaganda and misinformation that was fabricated by a US geological survey that used horrible data to support the claim that Burmese pythons can extend their territory all the way across the US I will be working on a new page that will have any information including a few emails from friends and/or the author of the articles and USGS researchers... keep checking for it soon.

Hey guys, I promised that I would let you know what I caught yesterday so here goes: there was one baby diamondback that still had his button and one large cottonmouth that was around four feet. The weather started out wet but as it was clearing up I was able to flip some tin and we found them both between 11:00 and 12:00 in the afternoon. the diamondback was found under a screen door that was in a trash pile and the cottonmouth was crossing the road. there are pictures in the gallery.

~Chris~
I am gonna head up to GA tomorrow with a friend of mine to check out Cumberland Island and see if the diamondbacks are as good there as everyone says. I will keep you posted to tell what all i catch tomorrow. It will be an early day for me as i will be getting up at around 5 to get there around 6. the weather should be nice and i hope the herping will be too!

The indigo snake permits are taken care of so now all that is left is to wait for the snake to arrive, it may take some time before he is shipped but within the next month we will have a brand new juvenile Drymachon couperi! I cannot wait for him to arrive!
not much else going on, just thought that I would share that with you.

"The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has made a significant move towards banning the importation and interstate transport of Boa Constrictors and Pythons in the United States. Quietly published in the Federal Register, the agency is accepting public comments until April 30th. If enacted this will devastate an already hard hit industry, dealing a fatal death blow to a large number of businesses dependent on this segment of the industry and drying up the supply of these pets to pet owners across the United States."

If this legislation is passed, it could ruin many breeders, many of whom are good friends of mine. This law was probably thought up as a cure for the large pythons in the everglades but they were not a result of the pet industry, there is a direct relation to the herps in south Florida and hurricane Andrew which tore down the zoos museums and houses of breeders releasing many exotics. this is not thought through well, it will not just stop trade in one state or region but the entire nation, i urge everyone to post their comments against this. we will not allow the over-protective animal rights groups to do this to us as i am sure they are the ones backing this proposal.
I JUST WISH OUR GOVERNMENT WOULD USE SOME COMMON SENSE!
