The rain here has lasted all day in a constant stream of water that has flooded everything near the beach. this is great considering that we are in a lasting 8 inch drought, hopefully this will get a bunch of snakes moving. I am gonna have to go and look sometime very soon for them.
I have added stuff to the photo gallery, FAQ page, and articles. Check it out and keep posted for new stuff. I am excited about this website and will be working on it constantly for the next few days.

Been working all day. I had a birthday party today,i have not done one of those, but i really like them, it gives me something interesting to do. Not a bad day so I celebrated directly after work at the mall... haha. My amazon tree boa, Jasimine, has been shedding for about a month now and is still only about half way done, i tried bringing her in to the office and working on helping her shed in my spare time (I have a lot of that), but she was in such a mood today and bit me 5 or 6 times, this scarred the crap out of one of the interns as I was being sarcastic earlier when she asked "is it venomous?"
Just my reflection on the day...

I am going back to the museum tomorrow and will be working all day. I have the best job in the world, i love it so much, if i could, i would not mind working there for the rest of my life, unfortunately with college and my travels, i will not be able too. Oh well, i will just have to enjoy it while it lasts...

Hello everyone, my name is Chris Hartmann and I am currently 16 years old and am working on getting my venomous snake permit which allows me to keep and handle venomous (hot) snakes. in my collection, i have two savannah monitors (Monty and Jr.), a snapping turtle (Bowser), too many lizards to count and an amazon tree boa (Jasmine) that my parents still do not know about... i work at the museum of science and history and i clean up all of the all of the snake poo and feed the animals there as well as give educational talks and shows. on long weekends you will find me in state parks or back woods looking for snakes. i have dealt with everything hot that is native to the southeast except for the elusive coral snake. most all non-venomous native snakes have been captured by me (with a few exceptions of course) but i fancy myself a pretty good handler and hunter. all of my expeditions are catch and release on a count of me not being able to keep snakes in my house (but Jazzie is allowed because she is not known about). I am very involved in school and various academic programs like YLJ and the drama program at school. I enjoy the reptile rescue calls and take them every opportunity that i get. some recent adventures include a ghost softshell turtle that got into a swimming pool and a black racer that was "seven feet long".
keep in touch for updates on the site, soon you should be able to comment under the pictures and maybe even post your own as well as post general questions that can be answered be either me or other members that "know their stuff" so to speak.
